Database password
When a password for opening is set, all users must enter that password before they are allowed to open the database.
If you encounter the enter password dialog (see below) when opening the database in Microsoft Access, it means that the database is password-protected.
If an opening password is set, a weak encryption method is used. Office Password Recovery recovers such passwords immediately.
To set, modify or remove a known (or recovered) password for opening:
- Close the database. Click "Open" in the "File" menu.
- Select a database. Click the arrow to the right of the "Open" button, and then click "Open Exclusive".
- Click "Security" in the "Tools" menu, and then click "Set Database Password".
- Type a password in the Password box.
- Type your password again in the "Confirm Password" box, and then click "OK".
- To remove the password, leave the Password box empty.
